Take free tours of "Iowa's People & Places" exhibitionThe State Historical Society of Iowa’s mobile museum is hitting the road again as it continues its journey to all 99 Iowa counties.Housed in a custom-built Winnebago, the 300-square-foot museum on wheels launched in 2017 and completed its first 99-county tour in 2019, making 175 stops along the way and attracting nearly 65,000 visitors, including 11,400 students.

The graduating class of 1983 will be holding their reunion on the weekend of June 3, 2023.The Schedule so far includes a night at Berry's Lanes, Golfing, and a night at the Ron Da Voo. Shellsburg Post 166 American Legion Riders will hold the Veterans Benefit Ride on Saturday, June 3. You can grab some breakfast at the Legion for a freewill donation from 8-10 a.m.Registration will be from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Shellsburg American Legion.Cost: $10 per personAt 10:30 kickstand go up and everyone will start their engines.Scheduled stops will be at Garrison's Hitchin' Post, the Wind-Up Lounge in Traer, Big R's Bar and Grill in Elberon and end at the Pearl Street Social Club in Shellsburg.

On May 20 The Izaak Walton League will be hosting their annual Sportsman’s Day. This is a day of fun and activity designed to get children involved and excited about shooting sports and the outdoors. This year, they are excited to announce that they will be teaming up with the Blue Creek Springtime Monarchs (Benton County’s National Wild Turkey Federation chapter) and will be combining JAKES Day with the Sportsman’s Day!Registration starts @ 8:00 am and safety brief and events start @ 9:00 am at the Izaak Walton clubhouse at 1234 rt 150 Vinton.

The Shellsburg American Legion Saturday morning breakfast is held each Saturday morning. Updated: Weather pending...The AMVETS will have their food trailer at Dollar Fresh over the weekend. They will be serving:HamburgersHot DogsBratsChipsSodaAll for a freewill donation. The AMVETS will be there from 11 a.m to 7 p.m on Friday and Saturday and then from 11 a.m. to  3 p.m. on Sunday. 

Birds of a Feather will host its second annual flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3. There will be vendors both at Birds of a Feather and indoors at the Community Center. This is the same day as townwide garage sales in Van Horne and Newhall.
